Abstract

Introduction and purpose: Ping pong is one of the sports that requires physical and mental balance. Body balance means the ability to maintain the desired position of the body in a stationary or moving state. Mental balance means the ability to focus and make quick decisions in different situations. The purpose of this research is to investigate the effect of balance exercises on the performance of ping pong athletes.

Methodology: This research is experimental and has two experimental and control groups. The statistical sample includes 30 male ping pong athletes with an average age of 25 years who were randomly divided into two groups of 15. The experimental group did balance exercises for 8 weeks, which included exercises with balls, balance boards, trampolines, etc. The control group only did their usual exercises. Before and after the training period, the athletes' performance in ping pong skills including speed, accuracy, strength and technique has been measured.

Results: The results showed that balance exercises significantly improved the performance of ping pong athletes in the experimental group. This improvement compared to the control group has been visible in all ping pong skills. Also, statistical analysis showed that the difference between the two groups is significant at the 95% confidence level.

Conclusion: balance exercises improve the performance of ping pong athletes by increasing physical and mental balance. Ping pong athletes should use balance exercises in their training program.
