Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of analyzing the role of training motivation in improving the skill of throwing under the hoop of teenage basketball players. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a descriptive correlation design with the participation of 15 players aged 15-18. Data were collected using exercise motivation test with Likert scale tool and the skills of throwing under the hoop were evaluated to obtain relevant data.

The results of the study indicate that motivation has an influence on under-the-ring shooting, as seen in the significant relationship (0.009 < 0.05), meaning there is a positive correlation between training motivation and under-the-ring shooting ability with a moderate correlation. Therefore, it can be concluded that high training motivation leads to improved throwing performance. To increase motivation, different forms of support, such as social support and personal achievements, should be provided, as they can affect the players' performance on the field. Future research may consider additional variables such as technique, sport psychology, environmental conditions, and varied training facilities to achieve a more comprehensive understanding.
