Abstract
Introduction and purpose: The purpose of this research is to determine the factors affecting the academic progress of secondary school students in Nahavand city and to develop a suitable model for it.
Methodology: The population studied in this research includes all high school students of Nahavand city who are studying in the academic year of 1402-1403 and divided by gender (girls and boys) in the number of 4000 people, of which 2100 are girls and 1900 are boys, and the sample is based on Morgan's table, 320 students have been selected from the mentioned society. The relative stratified sampling method was used to select the sample. The research method was descriptive-survey, the research tool included a researcher-made questionnaire, which includes 7 components that were extracted from the theoretical foundations and experimental background and comparative studies, which were arranged in a Likert scale.
Results: The results showed that personality is known as the most important factor affecting academic progress. And after that, the significant effects of family, friends and peers, school rules, socioeconomic status, job effects, and finally, the style of attitude of students and parents and teachers towards education have been mentioned.
Conclusion: All environmental and family factors have a direct and indirect effect on the academic progress of secondary school students.
