Abstract
Introduction and Purpose: Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture may lead to impairments in muscle strength, balance, and neuromuscular control of the lower extremity. Prehabilitation before ACL reconstruction aims to improve the functional status of individuals with ACL injuries. This study aims to compare the effects of neuromuscular training and strength training on motor control and return-to-sport readiness in individuals with ACL rupture before reconstructive surgery.
Methodology: This study will be designed as a three-arm randomized controlled trial involving neuromuscular training, strength training, and control groups. Eligible participants with unilateral ACL rupture will be randomly allocated to the study groups. The intervention will be conducted over 6–8 weeks. Study outcomes will include motor control, balance, muscle strength, functional limb symmetry, and psychological readiness to return to sport.
Results: As this is a proposed study, actual findings are not yet available. Both training programs are expected to improve selected functional outcomes, although their effects on motor control, balance, and muscle strength may differ.
Conclusion:This study may provide evidence regarding the role of neuromuscular and strength training in ACL prehabilitation and contribute to the development of targeted exercise programs before ACL reconstruction.
