Introduction and Objective: Attachment styles and self-efficacy are important factors that can influence stress management strategies. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between attachment styles, self-efficacy, and stress management strategies in adolescent girls. Understanding these relationships can help develop effective strategies to improve the mental and social health of this age group.
Methodology: This research was conducted descriptively-analytically using standard questionnaires on attachment styles, self-efficacy, and stress management strategies among 6,472 adolescent girls (ages 13 to 18) in the city of Nahavand. Data were collected using the Hazan and Shaver Attachment Questionnaire and the Sherer General Self-Efficacy Scale, and analyzed using SPSS software version 24 with descriptive and inferential statistical analyses.
Results: The results indicated that girls with a secure attachment style had higher self-efficacy and made greater use of effective stress management strategies. Additionally, a significant relationship was found between self-efficacy and the selection of positive stress management strategies. In contrast, girls with insecure attachment styles tended to use ineffective stress management strategies.
Conclusion: The findings of this study suggest that attachment styles and self-efficacy play a significant role in stress management strategies among adolescent girls. Strengthening secure attachment and increasing self-efficacy can improve stress management strategies and, consequently, enhance the mental health of this age group. These results can serve as a basis for designing educational and therapeutic programs in the field of adolescent psychology.
